What we help with
Getting to appointments, activities and everyday destinations, or learning to make a journey more independently.
What support can involve
Support may involve travelling with you or practising a route, using a ticket and knowing where to get off.
Where to start
Tell us where you want to go and what makes the journey difficult.

From your front door to the right room.

Getting there is only part of the trip. You might need help leaving the house, getting into a vehicle, finding the right room or having someone with you while you wait. Tell us about the whole journey.

We can discuss transport to appointments, shopping and community activities, including your mobility equipment and access needs. The return trip matters too, especially when appointments don’t finish on time.

If you want to learn a route, we can practise it together. That could mean reading a timetable, recognising your stop or working out what to do when a service is delayed.

An example journey: leave home, travel, arrive and get back. Support can cover more than the time in a vehicle.

Transport and travel training.

Practising the route to a weekly community class.

01 / THE SITUATION

A participant wants to catch the bus to a class they enjoy. They know the area but worry about recognising the right stop and what to do if the bus is late.

02 / HOW KIRAYA COULD HELP

KIRAYA could practise the route with them: finding the stop, checking the service and recognising landmarks along the way.

The worker and participant would also talk through a delayed bus, asking for help and a return plan, using reminders that suit the participant.

03 / WHAT WE’D WORK TOWARDS

A familiar journey that feels more manageable.

They could keep practising with support or work towards needing less assistance. There is no fixed number of trips they have to get it right in.
